Photos:
Amtrak's eastbound James Whitcomb Riley has a clear signal at Sheff and is about to pound over the Egyptian Line diamond. Note that the first car is a dome and the engine in front of it appears to be a former NYC GP7 or GP9. April 5, 1973. (Jim Latimer Photo)
Sheff tower viewed from the eastbound James Whitcomb Riley. At this time in its history Sheff was just a lonely tower guarding a crossing in the middle of cornfields. April 5, 1973. (Jim Latimer Photo)
A view of Sheff tower taken either from the roundhouse roof or from the water tower. The tracks in the foreground connect the Indiana Division with the north-south Egyptian line which is two tracks at this point in time. While the photos is undated it appears to have been taken sometime between 1910 and 1930, most likely for ICC valuation purposes. Date unkown. (Nathaniel Light Collection)
An eastbound passenger train on the Indiana Division led by IC GP-9 9205 is about to cross the Western Division. Date unkown. (John Fuller Collection)
